The First Book in the Dragonmaster Trilogy

Narrated by: Fiona Dexter

In Anguis, magic is forbidden.

Dragon Servants Sanna and Isadora Spence live deep in Letum Wood, where persnickety dragons and wars on the borders are the least of their worries.

Thanks to years of simmering tension, the hidden village is destined to crack. Soon. Sanna’s deep love for the giant beasts causes her to make an irreversible mistake, while Isadora’s disinterest leads her to a fateful decision that will change the course of the entire world.

Can the sisters prevent everything they know from falling apart? Or do they allow it to break and pave the way for new growth?

Join these beloved sisterwitches in a story about sisterhood, new magic, and dealing with change.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice story, Nice formatting

I don't normally like dragon books; there are too many plotlines I've seen before--but I loved Flame! It's a fantasy adventure about two sisters who live deep in the forest of Letum Wood. One dreams of becoming a Dragon Servant, a caretaker for the beautiful but endangered forest dragons. One fears that fate with all her heart, desperate for escape.

They both get their wishes—in entirely unexpected ways. One sister makes a connection with a "wild dragon" and the other journeys into the war-torn world beyond the forest to learn magic. Throw in imaginative world building with the god of dragons and the goddess of the forest, lies from the past, and a delightfully grumpy supporting character for a fun read. I highly recommend for teens and adults alike.

As per the physical book, it has nice typesetting and section break icons. Visually easy to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Excellent!

I really really enjoyed this story. Not only is this a coming of age type story, but it has change and hope of every kind thrown in. Dragons who think they're in charge when they're trapped just like everyone else. Fear, war, magic, healing, the list goes on. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a story of growth, magic, and overcoming themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you love dragons.

Descriptive, imaginative writing immerses you in the world ruled by dragons. Lots of action follows Sanna and Isadora, who must choose their dragons to serve. What if you don’t like dragons? What if you love dragons and can’t choose? A very good read and I expect very popular among young adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragons

Lies, betrayal, failure and wrong choices make this book intriguing as it follows 2 sister witches on the road to discovering the past and their futures. One sister Sanna loves the dragons and the other sister Isadora yearns to learn and use magic. Both sisters are on different paths but sometimes still the same.
I really enjoyed this book and I love anything that has dragons so that was a real plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars those dragon scales, though...

Love this books. Katie Cross's take on dragons--their lore, their appearance, their culture--is refreshing and beautiful. Just when you thought dragon's had been done to death, Flame breathes fresh fire into the genre. Loved it!
