Never underestimate the power of a determined witch.
Sixteen-year-old Bianca Monroe has spent her entire life preparing for one impossible task.
She must earn a place at Miss Mabel’s School for Girls, a quietly famous magical academy where young witches are trained, tested, and pushed far beyond their limits. For most girls, attending Miss Mabel’s is an honor.
For Bianca, it is her only chance to save her own life.
But winning a coveted position to work directly with Miss Mabel is dangerous. Bianca has secrets she cannot afford to reveal, enemies she cannot fully see, and a magical education that may demand more from her than she knows how to give.
Inside the school, Bianca faces enchanting spells, simmering potions, fierce competition, and the ache of being far from home. But Miss Mabel is not simply a powerful teacher.
She has plans of her own.
And if Bianca fails, she will be trapped at the center of them.

What a wonderful story about a young lady fighting for herself and those she loves. Bianca is a strong smart mmm even a little stubborn at times. She is about to start a new school and have many adventures with some wonderful new friends and I might I even say enemies.
It's been a while since I read the series but I remember I read the entire series in a binge. I could not put the book down. The characters are complicated but not enough where you have difficulty tracking them. Refreshing and fun
There is nothing like the first book in an excellent series! The writing is flowing and full of magic. There is adventure, love, friendship, mystery, bravery and so much more. Even though it's part of a series, the ending of the book is not a cliffhanger. And it pass the ultimate test of a good book which makes you want to read more.
What a wonderful way to start an epic life story of a young and brave teenage girl. I have read this book 4 times and each time is greater than before. I recommend this book for all ages, young and old!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so much so that have purchased everything since and am. Longing for the next book.
