The first book in the Dragonmaster Trilogy
In Anguis, magic is forbidden.
Dragon Servants Sanna and Isadora Spence live deep in Letum Wood, where persnickety dragons and wars on the borders are the least of their worries.
Thanks to years of simmering tension, the hidden village is destined to crack. Soon. Sanna’s deep love for the giant beasts causes her to make an irreversible mistake, while Isadora’s disinterest leads her to a fateful decision that will change the course of the entire world.
Can the sisters prevent everything they know from falling apart? Or do they allow it to break and pave the way for new growth?
Join these beloved sisterwitches in a story about sisterhood, new magic, and dealing with change.

Flames is a magical story about witches, dragons and Letum wood. Sanna and Isadora, two sisters with a future settle that may have to face many dangers and changes in order to bring free to their world. Sanna working with the Dragons and Isadora with witches. You won’t be able to put the book down until the end and then you will look forward to to the next part. The audiobook is a masterpiece
What an immersive story! The emotions conveyed felt so real, the joy, the fear, the anguish, all of it was so incredible! Fell in love with the dragons and all they offered, as well as the main character(s) and their splitting paths from each other. But they didn't whine, they knew what they had to do and they did it. How incredible!
I had the wonderful opportunity to meet the lovely, fellow dragon-lover Katie Cross at a convention this year in Denver, and what a joy she was! I can't wait to continue to read this series, and explore the other worlds she has culminated so expertly in her writing! I'll be moving on to Flight here shortly!
Wonderful story, wonderful series. Alkarra is vast and comes alive on the page. I felt immersed at once and had to know what happened to both girls and their own stories, learning and growing beside them. It’s like two stories in one. Loved it!
I met Katie Cross at a writing conference and bought Flame after hearing her description. Best decision I've made in months. I love novels of all genres, but there's a speciall place in my reader's heart for fantasy novels involving dragons. Perhaps that comes from years of reading DragonLance. Flame, and I'm certain the same goes for the follow-on titles, fills that youthful need. It's a fantastic story with a number of suprising, yet inevitible, twists. Really, a stellar novel. I've already bought Flight, the next book in this series, and I'm really looking forward to it.
